¶ Inheriting or Sharing Templates
A new template is available in the organisation where it was created. To make it available more widely, let sub-organisations inherit it, or share it with selected organisations or users.
¶ Inheritance of templates (recommended)
Inheritance is a core feature in Diri for reusing content across an organisation. It shares items top-down through the organisation tree, so that items created at a higher level become visible and usable in sub-organisations.
A template has two inheritance options:
- Allow child organizations to inherit this template - users in sub-organisations can see the template and use it to create risk assessments.
- Allow child organizations to modify this template - users in sub-organisations can also edit the template's content. Without this, the template is read-only for them.
Templates are inherited together with the risk matrix settings: a sub-organisation sees an inherited template when it also inherits its risk matrix settings from the organisation that owns the template. This makes sure the template's risk levels mean the same thing in both places. See What is offered to the organisations below.
Inherited templates are marked as inherited in the template list.
¶ Sharing templates with selected organisations or users
- Open Templates in the module and find the template.
- Open the menu on the template (the three dots in the top right corner) and click Share.
- Choose Share with organization or Share with individuals, and add the organisations or people.
- Set what they can do. Generally, a template only needs read access when shared.
- Save.
¶ Changing and revoking access
The sharing panel shows who has access and their current permission level. You can change permissions and revoke access directly from the panel. The animation below shows how to give and revoke access for a sub-organisation; the process is the same for users. See also Sharing and collaboration.
