¶ The Report Designer
Create reports from live data, text and widgets – or start from a ready-made template – and export them to PDF.
The Report Designer lets you build your own reports from a combination of live data and free text. A report is laid out on A4 pages with widgets – tables, charts, risk matrices and text blocks – much like your dashboard. Because the widgets read live data, a report stays up to date as work progresses: open it again and it shows the current figures, with no need to rebuild it.
Use it for management reviews, board meetings, audits, compliance checks or customer presentations.
¶ Who can use it
Administrators and users with the User Compliance role can create and edit reports. Auditor and Read and sign users can open and read them. See Role-based access control.
¶ The Reports page
Open Reports under Governance & Compliance in the left menu. The page has two tabs:
- Reports – the reports in your organisation. Click a report to open it.
- Templates – report templates that you can create new reports from.
¶ Ready-made report templates
Diri comes with preconfigured starter templates covering common use cases. They are available in English and Norwegian. The first time you open an empty report workspace, the starter templates are added for you. If the Templates tab is empty, click Load starter templates to add them.
¶ Creating a report
- On the Reports page, click Create report.
- Choose how to start:
- Create report from scratch – an empty report.
- Create from template – a copy of one of your report templates. Choose the template in the Template field.
- Create template – turns an existing report into a template that others can reuse. Choose the report in the Report field.
- Enter a Name.
- For a report from scratch you can also set:
- Description.
- Organization – which organisation the report reads data from. Tick Include sub-organizations to include the organisations below it.
- Module – limit the report to one module (for example Cyber Security or Privacy), or choose All.
- Columns – lay out the pages in two or three columns.
- Save. The report opens in the Report Designer.
You can also open the Report Designer from a dashboard with Design report.
¶ Designing the report
- Open the report and click Edit.
- Add widgets from the Widgets panel. Ready to go widgets are preconfigured widgets that you can drop straight in; when the report has a module, the list is filtered to that module.
- Move and resize widgets on the page. Use Add page and Remove page to change the number of pages.
- Click a widget to configure it: give it a Title, Description or Caption, choose the data (Resource), add filters, choose what to Group by, and for tables choose columns, Row limit and Sort direction. A widget can override the report's module with Module (override).
- Click Done editing when you are finished.
¶ Widget types
- Text Block – headings, commentary and explanations.
- Table and Data Table – lists of records, with selectable columns and sorting.
- Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Stacked Bar and radar charts – data shown graphically, for example task progress.
- Risk Matrix – choose which risk assessments to include and which stage of the risk matrix to show.
- Control Matrix – treatments distributed by type and class.
- Image – an image with a caption.
¶ Example: IT systems in one risk assessment
- Add a Table widget and set the resource to IT systems.
- Add a filter so that only IT systems connected to the risk assessment you are interested in are shown.
- Add a Text Block above the table to explain what it shows.
- Optionally add a chart or a Risk Matrix for the same assessment.
Every time you open the report, the table shows the current systems.
¶ Exporting to PDF
Open the report and click the download button in the top bar. The report is saved as an A4 PDF file named after the report.
¶ Sharing and managing reports
Each report on the Reports page has a menu with Edit, Share and Delete. Use Share to give other users or organisations access to the report. See Sharing and collaboration.
