Diri connects to ChatGPT as an app. Each user connects with their own Diri account and works as themselves. Bring your own AI must be activated for your organisation first: see Getting started.
- A ChatGPT plan that allows custom apps with developer mode (for example Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise). On Business and Enterprise, a workspace admin must allow developer mode and custom apps first.
- Your Diri address followed by
/mcp, for example https://app.diri.ai/mcp. If your organisation has its own Diri address, use that one.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings > Apps > Advanced settings, and turn Developer mode on.
- Choose Create app. Name it
Diri, enter the address, for example https://app.diri.ai/mcp, and choose OAuth as the authentication.
- Create the app. Diri opens in your browser: sign in if you aren't already, and approve the connection (see below).
- Start a new chat, add the Diri app to it, and ask: "Where am I working in Diri?" ChatGPT should name your organisation and module.
When you connect, Diri shows a page that says where ChatGPT will work (the organisation you have open in Diri), which registers it may read, whether it may propose changes for review and make suggestions, and that what it reads is sent to OpenAI under your organisation's agreement with them. Untick anything ChatGPT should not have, check that you started the connection from ChatGPT just now, and choose Approve.
- ChatGPT asks before it acts. In developer mode, ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it calls a tool that sends something to Diri. Sending is still only a proposal: a person publishes it in Diri. See Reviewing what your AI proposes.
- The connection lasts without new sign-ins. It ends after 90 days without use, after 12 months in any case, or when you revoke it in Diri under Import & AI > Tokens.
- If ChatGPT doesn't use Diri, check that the Diri app is added to the chat, and start a new chat after connecting.
The messages Diri can show when a connection is refused are the same for every AI assistant; see Connect Claude > If it doesn't connect.
